Scales Of Justice is undoubtedly the class horse in the 2017 Hyperion Stakes field and is subsequently a clear $1.50 favourite in betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Disposition ($3.80) and Pounamu ($14).

Will Scales Of Justice justify favouritism, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset in the 2017 Hyperion Stakes?

Scales Of Justice ($1.50)

Scales Of Justice is the best horse currently saddled in Perth and he will find his ideal racing conditions when he takes his place in the 2017 Hyperion Stakes field. Winner of the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m) and the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) before ending his 2016 campaign second behind Stratum Star in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), the Not A Single Doubt gelding returned to the races for a close second in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) a fortnight ago. Drawn ideally, Scales Of Justice should just win the Hyperion Stakes on Saturday.

Disposition ($3.80)

Consistent gelding Disposition has steadily built to the task through two starts this time in and is probably the only real danger to Scales Of Justice in the Hyperion Stakes. Second in both the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) and the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) during an impressive east coast campaign in 2015, the Reset gelding resumed this time for fifth in the Listed Avon Valley Toyota Stakes (1100m) on May 7th, before working to the line well for third in the Belmont Sprint last time out. With the notable advantage of William Pike in the saddle, Disposition will jump from barrier 8 in the Hyperion Stakes.

Ihtsahymn ($41)

The remainder of the 2017 Hyperion Stakes field is wide open and a proven veteran like Ihtsahymn is not without a chance of finishing in the first three, at healthy odds. Posting a career total of eight wins and seven minors through forty starts, including a smart win in the 2013 edition of the Kingston Town Classic, the Ihtiram gelding produced a number of strong performances through the Perth Summer Carnival in 2016 and is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run in the Group 3 Roma Cup (1200m) on May 20th.
